History

Bar do Bruno was founded in 1997 on the initiative of a young entrepreneur – Bruno Bairros, who had already started Baleal Surf Camp, the first Portuguese surf camp, in 1993. He identifies an opportunity and successfully bids for a concession on Baleal Campismo beach, in an area still without bathing surveillance. His idea was to combine a beach bar with a surf school and surf camp, where during the day the “beach life style” would be predominant and at nightfall the fun and partying component would reign supreme.

And so it was.

In the space of a few years, Bruno’s Bar, through its careful selection of music and the performances of renowned local bands and, above all, avant-garde and innovative DJs, has gained a growing reputation throughout the western region, which has subsequently spread to the entire surfing community and beach lovers in Portugal. In 2013, after a period of absence from bar management, Bruno decided to completely change the concept, the decor and the menu. Evening parties are no longer a priority, and there is a decisive focus on quality restaurants.

In September 2018, Bruno’s Bar burned down completely.

Despite this misfortune, we managed to rebuild the Bar and after a first phase, in 2022, a second phase will begin with a major investment in its total refurbishment, making it possible to combine a new nautical structure with a new restaurant and bar, as well as various public services.
